A functional capacity evaluation (FCE) is set of tests, practices and observations that are combined to determine the ability of the evaluated patient to function in a variety of circumstances, most often employment, in an objective manner. Functional capacity evaluations can gage a patient’s ability and readiness to return to work or activities of daily living after being disabled as a result of a personal injury.
